Hot and cold basalt stones from volcano sites around the world are used in this massage treatment. The heat retaining stones penetrate deep into the muscle fibres to work out knots and deep held tension.
The heat from the stones softens up the muscles and prepares them for deeper massage work to be done. The blood vessels dilate allowing more blood flow deep into the tissues and fibres – one stroke of the stone is equivalent to 3 strokes of the hand.
Tension and knots can be worked on up to 3cm into the muscle without causing pain or discomfort. Cold stones can then be applied for repair work on the muscles. The cold stones help contract the blood vessels taking away inflammation.
The dilation and contraction of the blood vessels gives your body an internal workout, giving you a truly luxurious deeply relaxing massage.
